The first unicorn book I was ever really acquainted with was The Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle, and his description of a "sea-green unicorn that resembled a deer" always stuck with me. I never understood why everyone pictured unicorns as white horses with spiraling horns...I always imagined a pretty little light-coloured deer with a curved, bone-like horn, a dark mane, and a lion's tail. I was a strange child, I imagine.
Did this last October out of some desire to manifest my mental image of a unicorn. Horribly rendered, but I still like the concept, and hope do to a follow-up sometime.
Done in tempera on 9x11 green-toned pastel paper. Clocked at about 4 hours.
Yiss, I used to love the movie version when I was little. Had it practically memorized. They're currently making a live-action version of it, I hear...that should prove...iiiinteresting.
Awesome job! I just wanted to let you know that I featured this in "Realms of Fantasy and Myth: Week 1 - Unicorns", you can find it here: [link]

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.

What were they thinking when they made M&Ms Minis? Did someone just bite into an M&M and think, "Ya know...I just can't finish this."
